Discover the Rich and Diverse Colors of Mindanao through Davao del Norte's Tourism Circuits
The stunning island of Mindanao in the Philippines boasts an array of colors that embody its rich and diverse culture, natural beauty, and resources. The Colors of Mindanao is a project by the Department of Tourism that assigns each region in Mindanao a color to represent its unique attributes and attractions. One of the regions that showcases the beauty and diversity of Mindanao is Davao del Norte.
As the home of the Red-assigned Davao Region, Davao del Norte has identified its own five unique tourism circuit destinations that embody the Colors of Mindanao. These circuits offer a diverse range of experiences, from eco-tourism and agriculture to culture and heritage, and highland adventures.
Celebrate Abundance with Agri-Ecotourism
Davao del Norte boasts an abundance of natural wonders and agricultural strength, making agri-ecotourism the first tourism circuit of the province. Under the theme "Celebrate Abundance," tourists can explore Davao del Norte's bounty of waterfalls, rivers, and its major agricultural industries, including banana, coffee, and cacao production.
One of the must-visit destinations for agri-tourism is "The Agriya" in Panabo City, which showcases a banana plantation and packing house for tourists to learn about the process of growing, harvesting, and packing bananas for export.
Embrace Our People through Culture and Heritage
Davao del Norte's second circuit is Culture and Heritage, featuring the theme "Embrace Our People." This circuit highlights the rich cultural heritage of the province, including the Ising Peace Memorial in Carmen and Talaingod, and the tribal village project in Talaingod.
The Battle of Ising Memorial has been proposed to be renamed as the Ising Peace Memorial, as it marks the site where the Filipino guerillas and the Filipino-American army forces won against the Japanese forces during World War II. With more than 70% of the residents in Talaingod being Ata-Manobo, the area deserves to be recognized as a cultural destination of the province. The province aims to fully develop a cultural village in Talaingod, where tourists can immerse themselves in the Ata-Manobo way of life.
Brave New Heights with Highland Adventures
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Davao del Norte's third circuit, Highland Adventures, offers just that. With the theme "Brave New Heights," tourists can explore the breathtaking landscapes of Lantawan ni Bakoko hill in Sto Tomas, Tugtugunan Falls in Kapalong, Okbot Cave in Kapalong, and Balimba Hills in Talaingod.
Tourists can also take their adventure to new heights by climbing Mt. Megalong and the Pantaron Range, both of which traverse Davao del Norte province.
Redefined Meetings and Fun with MICE Destinations
While Davao City is the main destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions/Conference and Events (MICE) in Davao Region, Davao del Norte is grooming its three cities of Tagum, Panabo, and the Island Garden City of Samal as a MICE circuit. Under the theme "Redefined Meetings and Fun," these cities offer a unique and dynamic experience for MICE events.
